DISCOVER SCOTTS MILL
Just south west of Raleigh, Scotts Mill is an attractive suburban neighborhood, known for its green lawns and impressive properties. Far enough away from the city to be removed from the bustle, Scotts Mill is still close enough to major business centers in the state to benefit from the amenities that come with the more densely populated areas. The neighborhood also provides for easy commuting into the city of Raleigh and other area towns.
Where Is It?
Scotts Mill is located next to the 540, south of U.S. Highway 64 and north of U.S. Highway 1. Downtown Apex is three miles to the west and RTP (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) is a short 17 mile commute north. Beaver Creek lies just to the north and the iconic Apex Barbecue Road is just to the south.
What’s To Do?
The neighborhood itself features a swimming pool, complete with lifeguard and washhouse. Children can splash in the shallow end while adults are able to swim laps in the roped section. This is the perfect place to go during the warmer months to interact with neighbors and cool off from the warm North Carolina sun. If you’re looking for a larger amount of water to enjoy, two of the state’s impressive lakes, Jordan Lake and Harris Lake, are right next door. Between the two lakes, numerous recreational activities – such as boating, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking/bike trails, geocaching, picnic shelters, and disc golf courses are available to the community – a resident of Scotts Mill could spend days enjoying them all. The Koka Booth Amphitheater is also close by. The amphitheater hosts summer movie screenings as well as live music performances year round. The North Carolina State Fairgrounds is a short drive down the road, hosting the fair in the fall and holding various events throughout the year, including the flea market, which is open virtually every weekend.
Shopping and Dining
For a quick bite to eat, Subway and Chick-fil-A are close by Scotts Mill, providing cheap options for on-the-go dining. To cater to a sit-down style appetite, Tyler’s Restaurant and Taproom is an area favorite for both adults and kids. If the whole family is hungry, Anna’s Pizzeria is just a few minutes west of Scotts Mill and is highly recommended by locals – said to be one of the best places to get a slice of pizza in the area. For home cooking or just stocking up the pantry, Target is located to the north, just a quick drive away. TJ Maxx & HomeGoods store is right next door and can also help with any basic home good needs. Even more stores are included in Beaver Creek Commons shopping mall, which encompasses the same area as Target and TJ Maxx, providing quick and easy access to retail shopping and a vast array of dining options.
