Budleigh

Budleigh is one of the most established and desirable neighborhoods within Raleigh’s city limits. Situated “inside of the beltline,” that is, inside Interstate 440 that encircles much of the city, Budleigh has been popular since homes were first built there in the 1920’s. Homes have also been built in Budleigh in recent years, although a large number of homes there were built during the 1960’s.

About Downtown Raleigh 

One of the most appealing aspects of living in Budleigh is the large number of amenities offered the residents living there. Because of its close proximity to downtown, Budleigh is close to shopping, dining and many other important features of life in Raleigh.

Downtown Raleigh offers a number of excellent shops from fine art galleries to antiques to shops that sell gifts and specialty items. Dining in downtown Raleigh encompasses everything from coffee shops to brew pubs to ethnic dining. A number of interesting entertainment options can be found downtown, as well.

Museums

Raleigh is home to a number of fine museums. The North Carolina Museum of Art, the North Carolina Museum of History, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and the City of Raleigh Museum.

The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Railway Museum, the Marbles Kids Museum and the Raleigh Contemporary Art Museum are all in the greater Raleigh area.

Sports

Raleigh has a professional hockey team, the Carolina Hurricanes, and a minor league baseball team, the Carolina Mudcats. Sports enthusiasts in Raleigh can also enjoy the professional soccer team, the Carolina RailHawks in nearby Cary, or the exciting games of North Carolina State’s college teams.

Golf is also an important leisure activity in Raleigh, with a number of fine courses in the area. Raleigh also has many public parks including the beautiful Umstead State Park, near the heart of downtown and Pullen Park, which is filled with all manner of activities, particularly for children, from a carousel and train rides to boats for rent.

Raleigh Schools

There are 169 schools in the Wake County Public School System. Their average rating is above average, nationally. Some of these also have programs for gifted students, S.T.E.M. Programs, Creative Arts and Science Specialties, and more. There are also a number of private schools in the city of Raleigh. Raleigh is also home to several colleges and universities.
