Fairgoers can let loose at one of the many concerts at Dorton Arena or clap along to traditional folk music at the Folk Festival. At 9:45, the closing of rides and attractions is marked by a spectacular fireworks display.
Exhibits
One of the most popular exhibits is the Village of Yesteryear, where over 75 artists and artisans demonstrate their techniques before wide-eyed crowds. Fairgoers can purchase handmade wares, and in some cases, even make their own. The Field of Dreams exhibit teaches children how food travels from farm to table. Children can pick, sell and then buy delicious fruits and veggies in a mini marketplace environment. American agriculture is a natural highlight of the State Fair. Visitors can step back in time at the Antique Farm Machinery exhibit or learn about modern farming techniques at Agriculture Today. Of course, no fair would be complete without lots of furry friends, and the Ark Animals exhibit pulls out all the stops to feature over 60 animals.

Guests of the State Fair are pleased to find the competitive spirit is alive and well. Contestants can enter horse shows, livestock competitions and cooking contests. There’s even a graphic design competition for students.
